Gold Plated vs. Vermeil Jewelry
Not all gold jewelry is created equal, and we're here to pull back the curtain.
Conventional “gold plating” (often called flash plating) uses a microscopically thin layer of gold; about 0.03 microns. It rubs off in a matter of weeks, leaving you with green skin and faded pieces. We DO NOT work with flash plating.
At Linte de Taller, we believe you deserve jewelry that lasts without the traditional luxury markup. Here is how we do gold differently:
-
Our Gold Plating (1 Micron Thick): This is 33 times thicker than standard flash plating. It is designed to give you that rich, high-end gold glow on a budget, offering incredible longevity for pieces like earrings and necklaces.
-
Our Gold Vermeil (2.5 Microns Thick): The premium standard. Deposited over a base of genuine sterling silver, our Vermeil is nearly 84 times thicker than flash plating. It is the absolute top choice for high-contact, everyday pieces like rings and bracelets.
Our Recommendation: Go for Gold Plated for earrings and necklaces to get maximum style for your investment. Choose Gold Vermeil for rings and bangles that handle the heavy lifting of daily life.
